Hello, Beautiful People!

The Lord has done and is doing a deep, amazing work in me through His Word. Digging deeper into the Power in the Bible has les me to dissect verses and seek God’s further insight. He led me to dive into John 14:27 - “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” This is a verse that He has used to comfort me immensely. Let me be the first to tell you, speaking and believing the Word of God transforms both you and either the situation or your perspective on it. Let’s discuss more below:

I would wonder why Jesus says, “the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So do not be troubled or afraid” as opposed to saying that the peace I give is a gift the world cannot take away. For years, I didn’t understand why He said it that way. As I dig deeper into The Word, I’m learning that every word choice by God/Jesus is intentional and filled with purpose.

Rather than continuing to wonder, today I sought the Lord for understanding as to why He chose that specific way to frame this promise and lesson. He said, “Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you.”; and I believe Him. Thus, when He answered me, I was humbled and grateful yet not surprised because He always keeps His Promises.

He initially answered me by showing me that if the world can’t give you peace, it can’t take it away. Since our peace is rooted in Jesus, the shifts and hardships of the world can’t affect it (if we don’t allow it). Making Jesus our Source of Peace ensures that our peace will never be unstable but will always be sure. Conversely, rooting our peace is possessions, people, logic, or worldly affairs ensures our peace will be temporary and fleeting. Choose Jesus.

While unpacking that answer the Holy Spirit showed me another reason which is that the world’s “peace” isn’t even worthy to be compared with Jesus’ Gift. The world offers an illusion of peace; but the Truth of Peace is only found in Christ Jesus. In His Generosity, He gives it freely. All we have to do is seek Him for it and believe He wants to give it to us. Our worldly troubles are real; but the transforming lesson is that they do not have to shake or lessen our peace if we choose not to let them. How do we do this, you may ask… “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” ISAIAH 26:3. Make a conscious effort to watch the Lord and not what the enemy wants you worried about. Call out the enemy’s lies and don’t make his destructive thoughts your own; rather, pray that God will protect you. “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” JAMES ‭4‬:‭7‬. We need only to call upon the Power of the Lord and He will always answer. How He answers is up to His Perfect Wisdom so stay open to the ways in which He will move in your life. But be assured of this, to seek Him is to find Him. The Lord says, “When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.” PSALMS ‭91‬:‭15‬.

The Peace of the Lord is a Promise. If we’re not experiencing it, it’s because we are not seeking His Face to access it. I truly believe and know from experience that God will not only keep us peaceful in turbulent situations; but He will, in His Perfect Timing, reach down and get involved. Remember, trouble can’t last because “we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” ROMANS 8:28.

As You seek God in His Word and through Prayer, He will meet you there. What a Glorious God we serve!!
